Push button switch

A push button switch is a type of electrical switch that is activated by pushing a button. When the button is pushed, it completes an electrical circuit, allowing current to flow through the switch. When the button is released, the circuit is broken and current no longer flows through the switch.

Push button switches are commonly used in a variety of applications, such as in electronic devices, control panels, and industrial machinery. They can come in different shapes, sizes, and colors, and may have different features, such as momentary or latching action, normally open or normally closed contacts, and illumination.

Momentary push button switches are designed to return to their original position after being released, while latching push button switches can be locked into position until the button is pressed again. Normally open push button switches have contacts that are open when the button is not pressed, while normally closed switches have contacts that are closed when the button is not pressed. Illuminated push button switches have built-in LED lights that indicate the status of the switch.

Normally connectors and switches are categorized in 3 grade ie. Commercial, industrial and military.

Most of the switches came in commercial grade and then industrial and military grade.

Push button switches are selected basically on their size, panel cut diameter, material, contact block, color, actuator shape and lens voltage.

Push buttons are divided in 3 main parts:

  1. Actuator
  2. Holder
  3. Contact block

Actuator: Main part of push button switch is Actuator, outer shape and actuator is pressed to give operational signal either to start machine or stoop machine.

Holder: Holder is mechanical part which is used to connect actuator and contact block and it also used to install push button in any machine.

Contact block: Contact block will be different type: NO (Normally open), NC (Normally connected), SPST (Single push single throw), SPDT(Single push double throw),  DPDT(Double push double throw) .
